Criteria for directors
Directors must be currently based in the UK
This opportunity is for directors who have gone beyond a beginner stage in their career
This means you've directed at least one professionally produced play (see FAQs on the main page for a definition of terms), and you consider yourself to be directing to a professional standard
If you are getting paid regularly as a director, even if it is not your main income, please do not apply for this opportunity: this is for directors who aren’t there yet!

How to apply
Please provide a personal statement about your practice, covering:
Who are you as a director? What kind of plays get you excited and why?
What do you think the challenges are of directing new work and tell us how you like to work with writers
Written answers: maximum 3000 characters (roughly 500 words)
Audio/video answers: maximum 3-minutes
Please submit your answer via the online application form, which will be live here on Monday 27th October, 9am
On this form, you will also need to attach the following:
A reference from a previous collaborator or theatre
Your creative CV.

This needs to be from a past collaborator or theatre, who can vouch for you as a director. Maximum one side A4. Please save the file with the following name format:
SURNAME FIRSTNAME REFERENCE
Eg. Dichmont Hugh Reference
CV
If it is not clear, please highlight your most recent professional credit, which we consider to be:
At least 45-minutes long
Performed more than once
Artists involved were remunerated for their contribution
Audience had to pay for tickets
